Bannister Loop

A last-minute weekend loop over Bannister to Arete biv and back via the infamous sidle track. Fortunately for us, it had recently been cut by a team of ex-NZFS volunteers, which cut hours off the travel time.

• Friday
• Carpark → Blue range hut (1 hour 10 mins)
• Saturday
• Blue range hut → Cow saddle, via pts 970, 890 and 810 (1 hour 45 mins)
• Cow saddle → Arete hut (4 hours 25 mins + lunch)
• Arete hut → Arete forks hut (2 hours)
• Sunday
• Arete forks hut → Cow creek hut, via sidle track (2 hrs 15 mins)
• Cow creek hut → roadend (2 hours 40 mins)
