Point 2025

Ahuriri CA ● 31 May – 2 Jun 2025

After climbing plans were cancelled due to poor weather, I kept my flight to Queenstown and went slightly further North East to opportinuistically bag my peak for the year. We parked near the Ahuriri valley road end and in to Hagen’s Hut for two nights. On the Sunday we headed up a large scree opposite the hut, which eventually turned into some chossy bluffs which felt sketchy to get through. Above them the going was relatively straightforward, not too steep, and topped with a partial covering of snow. I was a little underwhelmed when I got sight of point 2025, but made it to the summit at lunch time, and found a less worrying route back down to join the scree again.
