Annual peaks
Each year I try to reach a notable spot point which has a height above sea level (in meters) equal to the current year in the Gregorian calendar. The project began when my first tramp of 2022 took me to Jane Peak (2022m). Since then I have kept up the streak, and even made it to more than one annual peak in some years. Anyone who points out issues regarding the definition of mean sea level, or measurement errors in the process of surveying peaks is misunderstading the primary purpose of this project – I just want excuses to explore areas I otherwise might not have visited. It’s a fun framing device, and a bit of time pressure adds to the enjoyment. This page is a list of all the annual peaks I have reached (plus ones that I didn’t reach but come with a good story).
